National Cemetery JAX...

My wife and I were there this afternoon along with perhaps 500 others. My prepared remarks, provided by Steve, were brief and appropriate. The Master of Ceremonies was my friend Sergeant Major Quinn FLARNG (Ret). BG Sullivan was there to represent the Florida National Guard.

Four Members of the Florida Congressional Delegation were on the platform and spoke, i.e. Corrine Brown, Cliff Stearns, Ander Crenshaw, and John Mica. Both Brown and Stearns are on the US House Veterans Committee.

The main speaker was USDVA Under Secretary of Veterans' Affairs, Hon. Wm. Tuerk.

Your directions were on target, although the site is quite remote (as most National Cemeteries seem to be) in Duval County. This was my third new National Cemetery groundbreaking in Florida with Under Secretary Tuerk. Many of our VSO friends were present.

We managed to avoid the rain and a sunburn, and that is rare. It was a good day for Veterans. LC
